Following the mystery surrounding the brutal arrests of presidential aspirants, Patrick Amuriat of FDC and Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) during yesterday’s nomination exercise, Police has succumbed to public pressure and revealed why the arrests occurred.
Amuriat yesterday reached the nomination grounds barefoot, accompanied by heavily guarded security personnel.
According to police, Amuriat was solely to blame for his arrest on his way to the nomination grounds at Kyambogo University. Police claimed that Patrick used a route which was not designated by Police and instead used a different one, which he could use to gather a procession of over 2000 supporters.
“Amuriat blatantly defied the traffic flow plan agreed upon from his home in Najera to Kyambogo. He instead opted to proceed to Najjanankumbi to lead a delegation of over 2000 supporters. In total disregard of the Electoral and Health SOPs. He, however, was safely transported to Kyambogo,’’ Police mic, Fred Enanga said.
On why NUP’s Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) was brutally snatched from his car and taken to his home in security cars, Enanga explained that although he followed the COVID-19 SOPs, he refused to accept directives thus necessitating his arrest.

He, according to Police had planned to head to NUP offices where he could organize an illegal procession, something which is not in line with COVID-19 SOPs.
The two were however released later during the day.
