Gagamel International CEO Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool during his recent interview on NXT radio he requested the government to give attention to entertainment industry because COIVD-19 has affected them like the rest of other sectors in the country.
The pandemic had affected the film, music, media, multimedia, audio-visual performing arts, visual art, fashion and design industries.
‘Wire wire’ hit maker claims that entertainment industry has people who are ‘out of chance and don’t know anything else and they never save therefore the young people need capital to have somewhere to start from’.
Bebe Cool added that he is aware that the government can’t sustain the option of giving the artistes money but at least they should be given a chance to start other than keeping quiet for this all long.
But he claims that if government doesn’t want artists to insist on their stupidity of telling them to open up entertainment industry, they should be given the attention they deserve.
“If you don’t want us to insist on our stupidity of telling you to open up .Find out why we are saying you open. We understand in our industry we are stupid but we also deserve the attention” -Bebe Cool said during his interview on NXT radio.
Last year, the government through Ministry of Gender, Labour and social Development said that it had reserved Shs.66 billion stimulus package for artists whose activities were affected by the COVID-19.
The beneficiaries would include artists whose performances were cancelled after the government banned public gatherings in March last year.
