Uganda is set to next month, start COVID-19 vaccine tests after scientists developed three anti viral drugs that they hope will be effective in eliminating COVID-19.
President Museveni, while addressing the nation yesterday revealed that the anti viral drugs developed by Ugandan scientists limit the damage caused by the virus in the body and have so far proved to be effective in treating COVID-19 patients.
“The first three (3) are all anti-virals- killing the virus and limiting the damage of the virus to the body. The scientists have told me that dozens of people have been healed by these substances “
The president is confident that nationwide trials will commence on December 15. 2020.
“…starting December 15, 2020, patients under strict medical supervision will have this medicine tried on them.” he said.
The announcement comes shortly after the United States also rolled out a vaccine and trials are due to kick off. Britain also announced vaccines developed by Pitzer and BioN Tech with the first triiaks expected on December 7th.
