Uganda – British Actor Daniel Kaluuya Wins 1st Oscar For ‘Judas and Black Messiah’


British movie star Daniel Kaluuya with Ugandan roots has won the best supporting actor oscar for his in Judas and Black Messiah at the Academy Awards in Los Angels .

Kaluuya was born to Ugandan parents Damalie Namusoke and Stephen Kaluuya.He rose to international fame after his starring role in Jordan peele’s Get Out ,was favourite for Prize ,having won in the same category at a slew of preceding awards,including the Golden Globes and thee Baftas.

Daniel scooped his first oscar ward for Best last night for supporting Actor for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah.

In a wide – range ,effervescent acceptance speech ,Kaluuya started off by thanking God, “I can’t be here without your guidance and protection’ ,before acknowledging his mother, ” you gave me your factory settings”.

Kaluuya played the Fred Hampton role in the movie, and while accepting his award, he applauded the works of the real late Fred Hampton, expressing excitement for having been given the opportunity to play the role.

“What man ,how blessed we are that we lived in a life time where he existed ..when they played divide and conquer ,we say united and ascend”,he said in his speech.

Judas and the Black Messiah is a biography film about Late Fred Hampton, Chairman of the Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther party in the1960s.
