Two cleaners have been arrested in connection with the fire that gutted a store belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture on Sunday, 03 April 2022.
According to police statement released, Ajambo Jerry and Namusimbi Eunice- both cleaners, were arrested after it was reported that the fire came from burning rubbish always burn every Sunday and it is suspected the wind could have blown the fire inside the store since the burning point is close to the stores.
“Our fire prevention and rescue services responded at the scene on time and are currently dealing with the situation. Efforts to put out the fire completely are on. More details will be availed as soon as possible,” police said.
Since the beginning of this year, several schools, homes, industries and shops have been gutted by fire, leading to destruction of property.
On February 15, fire gutted a dormitory at Good Times Primary School in Kawaala Village, Rubaga Division, and Kampala, killing one pupil and leaving property worth millions of shillings destroyed.
