Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine was Wednesday morning nominated for Presidency of Uganda.
Bobi Wine’s nomination as predicted was full of chaos as police escorted him from his home in Magere, through the crowded streets of East Kampala.
Arriving over 30 minutes late at the nomination venue in Kambogo, Bobi Wine and his team were taken through a seamless process and was eventually declared a candidate by the Electoral Commission Chairman Justice Simon Byabakama.
He was seconded by his lovely wife Barbie Itungo, Lynn Zedriga, MPs Mathias Mpuuga, John Baptist Nambeshe, Asuman Basalirwa Francis Zaake, as well as Nubian Lee, Joel Senyonyi and Nyanzi Fred Sentamu.
Addressing the country immediately after his nomination, Bobi Wine showed confidence of taking over the leadership of Uganda.
Below is his full speech;
Fellow Ugandans I tell you now that we will be free or die trying to be free
Ladies and gentlemen, I come before you not as the most qualified or experienced candidate, but as most committed person to lead this liberation; to lead the people Uganda out of slavery.
The past three years have been full of challenges but now I announce to you that we are launching the most critical phase in our struggle to liberate our country
We are now closing the book of Lamentations and opening the book of Acts. It is time for action
I’m representing the health workers who are paid peanuts for doing incredible work.
I am representing my mother, a nurse who had 10 children and died a miserable life because when she got an accident and was put in Mulago, she had to be there for an hour in a hospital she served for more than 20 years. I am here to speak for her even though she cannot speak for herself.
If I become president, we will know what our classified budget does. The lowest soldier or Police officer will earn 1million shillings a month he said.
