Fresh news coming in to Celeb Patrol indicates that Musician Cinderella Sanyu aka The King Herself is going to take over as Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) President after Wycliff Tugume aka Ykee Benda resigned a few days ago.
Ykee Benda announced that he has stepped down as the President of the organization a few days ago explaining that he was tired of being attacked and insulted by artists, yet he was not gaining anything from the position.
Speaking in an interview with Galaxy FM, the “farmer” singer revealed that Cindy would succeed him as Uganda Musicians Association President.
Ykee Benda said that Cindy has good leadership skills and the ability command which is more reason for her to take over.
“Cindy Sanyu will sit in for me because she was my vice president. The news is just getting to the media but I had already discussed it with the committee before,” he said.
It should be noted that Singer Sophie Gombya was the President but resigned with an aim of focusing on her political career and this was when Ykee Benda, who was the vice President then became President. Cindy Sanyu then replaced him as Vice President.
It should be noted that the Uganda Musicians Association was initiated in April, 2019. It was then officially launched in May 2020.
UMA was established to protect, preserve Ugandan music and also promote unity among musicians.
