The leader of the largest opposition political party in Uganda Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has attacked the Chief Justice of Uganda Alphonse Owiny Dollo for using tribal remarks to condemn protesters.

Owiny- Dollo stirred public debate on social media and to Ugandans in diaspora after an emotional speech addressing mourners at late Oulanyah’s residence in Muyenga where he accused the fraternity of Baganda of being hypocritical by protesting against the government funding the Speaker’s travel for treatment abroad.

“But your ethnic leader,(Kabaka) was transported in a jet to Germany using public funds, yet he was not entitled, you didn’t demonstrate, is it because Oulanyah is an Acholi or that he doesn’t speak your language, a wicked person fights someone fighting for his life , a super wicked person fights a dead person,” he said

Bobi Wine, while addressing journalists outside Parliament, condemned these remarks, saying this is not the first time that people in the diaspora are protesting against exorbitant trips abroad.

He adds that the purpose of such demonstrations is to show dissatisfaction in the health system back home, that the government has failed to rectify.

“Ugandans in the diaspora protested when former MP Judith Babirye was funded for treatment abroad, the same was done with Minister Kibuye, they want leaders to use their influence to improve on the health system because many Ugandans cannot afford to travel for treatment abroad,” Bobi wine explained

He also queried the government for hiding under tribal sentiments to deviate debate against the actual cause of the late Speaker’s demise.

“I see it as a ploy to confuse the public by diverting public interest in knowing the exact cause of Oulanyah’s death.  We want to know who killed Oulanyah and why he died,” He explained further

Recently family members and relatives to the Late Oulanyah tagged the cause of his death to foul play by unidentified forces.

According to Nathan L’Okori, Oulanyah’s father, before heis son was lifted to the United States, he hinted on a sinister move to end his life and repeated the same even while in Hospital.

“I know all of you who have come here are mourners. His (Oulanyah’s) death is not easy news to welcome because I know he did not die of natural causes, he was poisoned,” Mr Okori told handful mourners at their ancestral home in Omoro District.

Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze also requested the Chief Justice of Uganda Alphonse Owiny Dollo to resign over the same issue.

Nambooze says the Chief Justice must first make a public apology before resigning for abuse of office, promoting sectarianism and behaving in a manner that is unbecoming of a person of his status in the country.

Oulanyah died last Sunday from Seattle where he had gone to receive specialized treatment.

According to Nambooze, Justice Owiny Dollo made a mistake to make false allegations against the person of the Kabaka and the people of Buganda at large. The legislator disclosed that the Kabaka of Buganda has never supported tribalism and over the years, he has demonstrated that Uganda belongs to its entire people regardless of their tribes, political or religious affiliations.

“You speech contained hidden incitive allegations to the Acholi as people against their fellow Ugandans the Baganda….The fact is that you knew and intended to Peddle lies so as you would succeed in promoting divisions and tribalism among Ugandans,” Nambooze told off Dollo in a statement on Saturday.

I wish to inform you that you greatly insulted Ugandans who trusted you with a big Office and honour when you stood to champion hate in a speech fully informed with a calculated agenda to vilify, humiliate and incite hatred against the Baganda as a people. I dont know whether it’s part of your duty as a CJ to visit the sick in foreign countries for which you would require Ugandan taxpayers to sponsor your trip or you enjoyed the misuse of public funds to go and return to do the politically motivated campaign against the Baganda and members of the National Unity Party?!”The legislator added.

Nambooze further claimed that Justice Dollo’s demeanor greatly exposed his deep seated hate and dislike he has for Buganda
