The ruling National Resistance Movement electoral commission chairman, Tanga Odoi has been prevented from disrupting Bobi Wine’s Campaign in Tororo by Police.
Bobi Wine, who is confident that he will snatch the Presidential seat from President Museveni in 2021 is expected to campaign in Tororo this afternoon.
Leading a planned a boda boda procession of NRM supporters all having President Museveni’s campaign posters, Tanga Odoi marched through Tororo but was intercepted by Police.
Tanga Odoi explained that disrupting NUP campaigns wasn’t his motive. Instead he wanted to remind the Police about it’s duty of enforcing COVID-19 SOPs on NUP supporters. He said that his people should not be put at risk.
“We are not blocking any one from holding a campaign rally but trying to remind the police to enforce the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by the Ministry of Health to guard against Coronavirus as our NRM party president has done,” Odoi explained to the Daily Monitor.
Police led by Bukedi South regional police commader, Mr. Julius Caesar Tusingwire explained that the group had not sought permission and was bound to cause confusion and chaos in the city.
