President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hit hard at opponents who think he does not know anything about youths, saying no one knows youths better than him.
While addressing Youth leaders in Mbale yesterday, President Museveni explained that when talking about youth, one should not concetrate on age or biology as this is very dangerous.
“When we talk about youths these days, I hear people just concentrating on biology. These days, people only talk about youth for age and the years they have spent. It is very dangerous.”
He however reminded the youth leaders that he himself was once a youth and is still as active as a puppy. He thus needs no one to lecture him on the needs and plight of youth in the country.
“The good thing is that I was a youth myself and very active. I need no lecture from anybody in the world to tell me about youths.”
“I have brought up youths in my house. They are now middle-aged people in their 40s. I now have new youths who are grandchildren in the house,” Museveni said.
The President had been accused of ignoring the plight of youth in the country. He had also been atacked by opposition, pinning him for his old age. Museveni however maintains it is ideology and not biology which matter.
