“No Need of Arrow Boys Reinitiation to Fight Karamoja Warriors” – Muhoozi Tells Mukula




First son who also double as the commander of the land forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has asked former commanders of the Arrow Boys group Mike Mukula and Minister Musa Ecweru to demobilize a militia, the Arrow Boys group for the security in Karamoja.

Muhoozi who also named self the third highest ranking officer of the Arrow boys after Capt Mukula and Musa Ecweru said there is no need for the reinitiation of the group in Karamoja to fight off the warriors who are said to have gone arround reportedly killing and engaging in cattle rustling.

The 1st son said this in a twitter engagement with Capt Mike Mukula, who is also the NRM Vice Chairman for the Eastern Region.

“I hear my brothers in Teso asking for re-armament of the Arrow Boys. First of all I think I am the third highest commander of Arrow Boys after @Mukulaa and Hon.Ecweru. We created Arrow Boys to deal with Kony, Otti and Tabuley. We succeeded in our mission.” Muhoozi said.

“Thank you sir. But as my leader (Mukula) and fellow commander we don’t need Arrow Boys for this small problem of mainly the Jie of Kotido.” “Asante sir! Kindly demobilise our Arrow Boys. If we need them we will call them sir.” he added.

However In response, Mukula said, the current deployment Karamoja gives hope, for the warriors mistreating people in the region have been contained.

“The current deployment of UPDF in karamoja, Kapelebyong and Katakwi has reestablished full confidence with the population,we are fully behind you and your efforts in the region, Our galant forces of UPDF are a superior force!” Mukula says.

There has been a months long stand off between the Karimojong warriors and neighbouring areas as rustling by such warriors intensified in the Karamoja, Teso and Acholi region


Last week President Yoweri Museveni also met with the country’s security High Command over increased  insecurity in Karamoja caused by backdrop of UPDF’s hunt for cattle rustlers who have destabilised the Karamoja region in Uganda’s northeast.

In the meeting also attended by former security minister, Gen. Elly Tumwine and the overall co-ordinator of Operation Wealth Creation, Gen. Caleb Akandwanaho aka Salim Saleh, among others was held at State House, Entebbe to discuss the way forward on how to solve the ongoing killing between cattle rustlers in the region and UPDF.

According to army spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye 309 warriors have been killed, 184 guns recovered and 1, 792 warriors arrested since last year, when the UPDF launched Operation Usalama Kwa Wote to flush out cattle rustlers from Karamoja region.

With the recent killing of geologists and soldiers on March 21, 2022, in Moroto, the UPDF, which blamed the killings on the Turkana rustlers that entered Uganda from Kenya in search of pastures and cattle, has intensified the hunt for rustlers?

The Turkana County in Kenya has since apologised for the recent killings by the Turkana pastoralists in a massage delivered by Lokiriama Deputy County Commissioner, Yacob Tirop last week and also handed over two guns that the warriors took after killing the geologists and their guards
