Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Temilade Openiyi alias Tems have been arraigned being before the Makindye Division court today and are to be remanded to Kitalya prison.
The two were arrested on Sunday together with their managers for holding an unauthorised concert at Ddungu resort in Munyonyo amidst Covid 19. They spent a night at Natete Police Station.
Omay Lay, was arrested with 8 others who include Temilade Openyi alias Tems a fellow Nigerian singer, Muyiwa Awomiyi (Temilade’s manager), Benjamin Kabura (organiser), Ivan Ddungu, the manager of the place where the concert was held, and Prim Kasana, the event manager, who contracted Omah Lay to sing.
Three Police officers were also arrested for reportedly guarding the concert.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed that the two Nigerian stars have appeared at Makindye Magistrates Court on Monday. They are still being investigated for disobeying lawful orders.
“The lawyers have delayed to come. But they will definitely appear today,” he said.
