President Yoweri Museveni has commissioned the newly refurbished and expanded Yumbe Regional Referral Hospital, the fruit factory and opened the Lokopio Hills Technical Institute on Saturday, January 9,
The expansion of the hospital includes: Construction of a new expanded OPD complete with Laboratory, Radiology and pharmacy, new Accident and Emergency Unit complete with a minor theatre and New Operation Theatre of 3 Operation Rooms up from the initial 1 operation room before expansion and 3 Delivery Suites.
It has New Wards: Maternity Ward (40 Beds), Female (40 Beds), Male (40 Beds), Pediatrics (40 beds) and isolation (32 Beds) and a Private Wing with private OPD and a 26 Bed Ward.

Fruit Factory.
Museveni commissioned the 6 metric ton per hour Yumbe fruit factory, a value addition initiative by Government to increase sustainable production, productivity and value addition in key growth opportunities.The factory is designed based on the local mangoes grown in the West Nile region and will be a ready market for the farmers with some companies already making offers to buy mango pulp that will be produced by the factory
Museveni noted that the government’s commitment to improve livelihood of the people in West Nile.
“People of West Nile thought we were hurling stones at them and yet we were casting meat! You can now see benefits of the NRM government,” Museveni said.
He also called upon leaders to focus on the needs of the people regardless of their race, tribe/ethnicity and religion to create harmony among communities.
“We appreciate launched Pani fruit factory in Ludonga Sub-county. We have the mangoes available with steady supply. We also call for the support of the Aringa cooperative Union to boost their cultivation of the raw-material for the factory to operate at optimal level,” lobbied Hon Huda Oleru Abason, the former Woman Member of Parliament Yumbe District.
