Museveni Appoints Former CID Boss Grace Akullo as Head of Interpol

President Yoweri Tibuhabulwa Kaguta Museveni who is also the commander in chief has appointed AIGP Grace Akullo the former head of police CID to head Interpol.

According to the Uganda police, this message was released yesterday.

The former head of Police CID, AIGP Grace Akullo has been appointed head of Interpol a day after handing over the former office after President Museveni appointed Maj Tom Magambo who has been in the Internal Security Organisations(ISO) as the new police Criminal Investigations Director.

Akullo will replace Charles Birungi who has been serving in this office after AIGP Fred Yiga’s term of office.

Akullo Born in 1969 in Arwot Nyap Village in Dokolo Town Council and joined the Uganda Police force on August 18, 2001.

Akullo then raised through the police ranks, and was in 2012 promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP).

In September 2011 she was appointed as the CID Director where she became famous when she took on high-profile corruption cases, her first case involving Geoffrey Kazinda, a principal accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister who is currently serving a 15 year jail sentence upon conviction by the Anti- corruption Court for illicit enrichment including his alleged unexplainable possession of wealth amounting to Shs 4.6 billion.
