Embattled members of Parliament, Mohammed Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana have had their bail applications turned down by court.
The two were arraigned before court to have their bail application heard by Masaka Hugh Court judge, Lawrence Tweyanziza
Tweyanziza, through an online hearing turned down the legislators bail request on grounds that their release may interfere with investigations.
The judge further noted that should the MPs be released, they may evade court once summoned again and directed them to be remanded as investigations go on.
On request that the MPs, who subscribe to Bobi Wine’s NUP be released for treatment, Tweyanziza directed prison authorities to avail the necessary medical attention to the legislators.
Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana have been behind bars, first in charges of murder but are now detained on allegations of inciting violence.
Ssegirinya is remanded at Kigo prison while Ssewanyana is in Luzira.
