“He Was Taken to His Home in Magere”- Police Dismisses Claims of Arresting Bobi Wine

It was reported early by National Unity Platform (NUP) camp that presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu akaBobi Wine and his entire campaign team being arrested in Kalangala as Media is blocked.

However, the Uganda Police force have disregarded false claims by NUP and other social media platforms claiming that Hon.Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert has been arrested, while on his campaign trail in Kalangala District.

Police say that have just restrained him from holding massive rallies amidst increasing COVID-19 threats in the country in total disregard of the Electoral Commission and Ministry of health guidelines and he’s being transferred to his home in Magere , Kampala.

“We would like to clarify that the candidate was restrained for continuously holding massive rallies amidst the increased threats of coronavirus, in total disregard of the Electoral commission and Ministry of Health guidelines. He’s being transferred to his home in Magere, Kampala.

Part of his advance team, captured on Cctv cameras and several video footages, while deflating tyres of police motor vehicles, inciting violence, obstructing police officers on duty, violating the health and safety protocols and various traffic offences, have been arrested for further statement recording.

Question on people’s lips is; “If kalangala is not part of the districts the EC suspended campaign meetings and rallies Why is the police and military arresting everyone on BobiWine’s trail?”
