On June 29,2021 ,the German Ambassador to Uganda Matthias Schauer,handed over a donation by the German government of COVID-19 testing kits and masks valued for over UGX 2 billion to the minister of health ,Jane Ruth Aceng in effort to fight deadly Covid -19 in Uganda
This donation is a small token of the continuously good cooperation between Germany and Uganda in area of health and beyond .
This donation confirmed by the German Embassy in official statement made via German Embassy socials platforms.
“The German Ambassador Matthias Schauer handed over a donation by the German Government of COVID-19 testing kits and masks valued at UGX 2 billion to the Minister of Health, Jane Ruth Aceng, in an effort to support the Ugandan #COVID19 response.
The Ambassador said that the donation by Germany has arrived at just the right moment when Uganda is facing a dramatic second coronavirus wave that brings along a steep rise in the number of infections and increases the pressure on the health system. Sufficient medical capacities and equipment would now be more urgently needed than ever before in the course of this pandemic. Mr. Schauer emphasized that with this donation Germany is able to continue its support to Uganda in these highly challenging times. 🇩🇪🇺🇬
The donation, financed by the German government through a program of the German Development Bank KfW partnering with the Aga Khan Development Network, consists of 23,000 Covid-19 testing kits, 22,000 Covid-19 extraction kits and 554,700 masks.”,German Embassy posted.
On the same occasion ,government launched Covid -19 vaccination around the country
