FUFA Suspends Mbarara City FC Captain Mukundane for Assaulting Match Officials

The Mbarara City FC captain Hillary Mukundane has been banned 4 matches by the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel along with fellow teammate Othieno Stephen for assaulting match officials.

Disciplinary proceedings were opened against Mukundane and Othieno for use of threatening, harmful, offensive, rude, insulting comments and violent conduct towards match officials in the match against Onduparaka FC Vs Mbarara City match played on 9.3.2021 at Green light stadium Arua.

“In the present case, the Competitions Disciplinary Panel identified and took into account the fact that; i. Hillary Mukundane and Othieno do admit to contravening Article 30(2) of the FCR ii. Hillary Mukundane and Othieno are remorseful in their defence,” a letter from FUFA.

The FUFA CDP therefore decided to suspend Hillary Mukundane and Stephen Othieno for 4 Uganda Premier League competition matches effective immediately as of 17.3.2021.

“Should they fail to heed to the sanction above, the FUFA CDP shall be constrained to take stringent disciplinary measures against the player,” FUFA warned.

Meanwhile, there’s also some good news from the pride Mbarara camp despite all the short comings.

Coach Livingston Mbabazi has returned to the Kakyeka Stadium after a very long time away. Mbabazi is back just in time to take over today’s game against BUL FC after signing a one and a half year deal with the Mbarara side.
