Turkish based striker and Uganda Cranes player, Farouk Miya pays tribute to fellow national team prayers Hassan Wasswa and goalkeeper Denis Onyango following their blod decision to retire from national team duties
Wasswa, had played national team football for over 13 years was decided to end his Cranes career, knowing he could no longer compete at a level that he finds acceptable.
“With much sadness but without regret, I realize that I am no longer able to adhere to the unwavering standard of excellence that professional football demands. I say this with a heavy heart; I am retiring from the National team,” Hassan Wasswa posted .
The 35 year old goalkeeper Onyango’s retirement comes day after another long serving player made decision to quit ,he said in a statement to FUFA that it was an honour to represent Uganda and will always appreciate the exprience.
“It has been a great pleasure and honour to represent my country and I will always appreciate the experience and knowledge that i have gained while playing for the cranes” ,Denis stated.
Farouk Miya in due respect to his national team captains has penned down emotional attribute for them and described them as great leaders on pitch and off pitch
“A lot can be written but nothing will fill the sacrifice you guys have done for our country and current generation .You have been an example of a good leader,captains ,role models ,elders brothers,inspires among others.
You paved way for us and next generation to come and you will always be remembered as legends in Uganda Football.
Thank you Denis Onyango and Hassan Wasswa.”,Miya posted.
