South Africa based goalkeeper and Uganda Cranes team captain, Dennis Onyango pays tribute to fellow national team prayer Hassan Wassawa following his decision to retire from national team duties over the week.
Wasswa, had played national team football for over 13 years was decided to end his Cranes career, knowing he could no longer compete at a level that he finds acceptable.
“With much sadness but without regret, I realize that I am no longer able to adhere to the unwavering standard of excellence that professional football demands. I say this with a heavy heart; I am retiring from the National team,” Hassan Wasswa posted .
National team Captain Denis Oyango in due respect to his assistant captain penned down sensational farewell to him by labelling him as one the best player he has ever enjoyed playing along on stadium .
“Thanks for everything my brother, Hassan Wasswa. On and off the field, you were one of the best guys around. Congratulations on a great 13 year Cranes career and know am soon following suit,” Onyango said to Wasswa, who has been his first vice captain at the time of retirement.
Reportedly that Oyango soon also will be retiring from international duties.
