City Socialite Charles Olimi alias Sipapa and his Wife, Shamira Rukia Nakiyemba have recruited new lawyer to defend them in an aggravated robbery case .
It should be remembered a few weeks ago ,his lawyers from Elgon Advocates, led by counsel Robert Rutaro Muhairwe ditched him over his failure to pay their legal fees.
According the lastest information the new lawyer Geoffrey Turyamusiima has already started to commence his services as he requested Makindye Chief Magistrates court grade one Patience Lorna Tukundane to compel prosecutions to speed up investigations.
“The accused’s right to personal liberty was infringed upon when they spent in custody for over 48 hours before arraignment in court,” Sipapa’s Lawyer Turyamusiima argued.
The lawyer further said that Sipapa spent over three days in Police custody while his wife, seven days. The two accused persons have also spent a month on remand at Luzira Prison.

Under the Penal Code Act, the offence of aggravated robbery attracts a maximum sentence of life imprisonment on conviction. The accused have since denied the charge.
The state attorney from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Eunice Akullo, disclosed that investigations were still ongoing.
Sipapa, who describes himself as a businessman dealing in gold, cars and promoter of music, is accused of robbing a South Sudanese national of sh1.6b. He is a resident of Kityo Close in Buwate village, Najjera in Kira municipality, Wakiso district.
The magistrate has since refused the accused persons to plead to the charge, saying the offence of aggravated robbery is a capital offence, only triable by the High Court. She have sent them back on remand until 10th of next month
