The President of National Unity Platform, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu widely known as Bobi Wine has condemned the arrest of Turkish based Ugandan vlogger, Fred
While addressing the press, Kyagulanyi called on the governments of the world to protect political exiles and dissidents in their respective countries.
He said that Ugandans ought to see Lumbuye’s arrest as a wake up call because many Ugandans have been living under the delusion that they are safe when they criticise the government while in other countries.
This, he said is not true at all as seen from the LUmbuye incident. He added that no one is safe.
“We are working around the clock to establish the facts, and I am grateful to all those who are doing everything to support his case, including our diaspora leadership teams. Our leadership team at home has also engaged the Turkish Embassy on the matter,” he said.
“We all must be very concerned about this development because as we know, many Ugandans only feel safe to criticise the regime in Uganda from a safe distance in countries abroad. The governments of the world ought to protect the rights of political dissidents and exiles who have sought refuge in their countries.”
In July this year, Police claimed that Mr.Lumbuye and several bloggers were behind Museveni’s death rumours.
A couple days ago, Fred was kidnapped from his home in Turkey by four armed men and whisked away to an unknown location.
