Police have confirmed the death of a 28-year-old man after a building that was still under construction collapsed in Nansana Municipality yesterday afternoon.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened at 12:48PM at Kabulengwa in Nansana Municipality.
The deceased has been identified as Joseph Kawesa, the owner of the building. Another man was still trapped in the rubble of the building by publication time.
While speaking to this website, Joseph Kawesa’s best friend named Reagan Makoba narrated that he was saddened by the death of his best friend, brother and mentor.
“I have lost my best friend, Joseph Kawesa the man who mentored me, he was more like a brother to me,” Sad Reagan narrated.
Reagan adds that Joseph Kawesa had just gotten married to his wife and the two were on their journey to success.
The Police publicist said officers from the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services were still searching for the missing man, believed to be a foreman who was working at the construction site.
Kawesa’s body was taken to the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) mortuary in Mulago for a post mortem. Owoyesigyire added that police was still investigating the cause of the collapse.
